  25. AND ANNOUNCES STARCORE DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT

  29. announced "GeoAssist™," its first Newton product, and demonstrated the software
  30. at the Macworld Exposition in San Francisco.  The GeoAssist program provides an
  31. extensive library of essential mobile reference information.

  33. GeoAssist Product Description
  34. GeoAssist includes an up-to-date database of Time-Zone Maps, Major Cities,
  35. NewtonMail™ Local Access Numbers, Telephone Calling Codes, Telephone Reference
  36. Numbers, Air Travel Information and more.  In addition, GeoAssist features
  37. FlightTrack™, a unique air-travel utility.

  39. "GeoAssist gives you instant access to a unique collection of information which
  40. simply is not available from any other single source ," said Daryl L. Scott,

  42. enhancing the built-in features for setting the user's location, for storing

  49. Important features of GeoAssist include:

  51. Time-Zone and Distance Maps
  52. Time zones and the current local time can be displayed on maps of the World,
  53. U.S., and Europe.  In addition, GeoAssist can show the distance between major
  54. cities, and a "ruler" tool can be used to measure distances in miles or
  55. kilometers between any two points tapped on the maps.

  57. Major Cities
  58. Major cities from a database of over 1,000 U.S. locations can be pinpointed
  59. instantly on the maps, along with the telephone area code, local time and
  60. average temperature in each of the four seasons.  In addition, tapping the "I'm
  61. Here" button stores the selected location in the user's Newton, adjusting the
  62. local time and telephone dialing information accordingly.

  64. NewtonMail Local Access Numbers
  65. The up-to-date NewtonMail Sprint local access numbers for all 50 states in the
  66. U.S. are listed by state, area code and city.  Tapping the "Save New Mail Phone
  67. In Preferences" button stores a selected number into the Mail Preferences,
  68. ready for immediate use.

  70. Telephone Calling Codes
  71. Included are all Long Distance Area Codes and International Calling Codes.
  72. Selecting any calling code and tapping the "Locate" button will display the
  73. location on the map display, along with the calling code, nearest city name,
  74. and local time at that location.

  76. Telephone Reference Numbers
  77. GeoAssist includes handy toll-free and other telephone numbers in several
  78. categories, including U.S. Airlines, International Airlines, Auto Rentals,
  79. Express Mail, Flowers & Gifts, Hotels & Motels, Local Weather and Lost Credit
  80. Cards.  Selecting a listed number and tapping "Dial" automatically dials the
  81. desired number.

  83. Air Travel Information
  84. As a quick reference for the air traveler, GeoAssist includes the Airport Codes
  85. and Names for major U.S. and international airports, as well as Airline Codes
  86. for all major airlines.

  88. FlightTrack
  89. The unique FlightTrack option continuously tracks a flight in progress.  It
  90. computes the latest "estimated time of arrival" based on the actual departure
  91. time.  Also displayed are the total, elapsed and remaining distance and time
  92. for the flight.  In addition, the current location of the flight is constantly
  93. updated on the map display.

  97. StarCore Distribution Agreement
  98. Avail also announced that GeoAssist, and its future Newton products, will be
  99. distributed exclusively through StarCore publishing of Apple Computer, Inc.
  100. "We are pleased that Avail Technology has joined the StarCore affiliate label.
  101. We look forward to distributing both the GeoAssist software and the other
  102. Newton titles that Avail has under development," said Ivy J. Millman, Global

  107. The suggested list price of GeoAssist is $59.00, and the software is scheduled
  108. to ship to resellers by the end of January.  Both Macintosh and Windows floppy
  109. disks are included with the initial release.
